Milton—A sunny day brightened the way for 39 junior golfers Monday as the NCPGA held its 17th Annual Dennis C. Lienhard Memorial Golf Tournament at Wynding Brook Golf Club. Morgan Sohosky of Tee-To-Green Golf Center took first place with a 73, and will have the honor of joining the prestigious group of NCPGA junior golfers to have their names etched on the plaque proudly displayed at the Club. Sohosky is the first female golfer to ever win the top flight of the tournament.

Morgan led the way amongst the 12 golfers in the 18 Hole Advanced division, tying Quinn Hackenberg of Shade Mountain G.C., then winning on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Tyoga Country Club’s Benjamin Barnett and River Valley Country Club’s Tanner Adriance followed closely behind, firing stellar rounds of 75 to tie for third. White Deer’s Vincent Bender and last week’s winner Matthew Storeman of Clinton C.C. carded rounds of 77 to cap off a competitive top flight.

The 18 Hole Intermediate group also had 12 competitors. Cade Crossgrove of Shade Mountain G.C. shot an 88 to win for the second straight week. Crossgrove inched out a total of five good rounds in the 90s, including a 93 from White Deer’s Shawna Markle, and a 95 from Koen Baylor of Susquehanna Valley Country Club. The duo of Ty Morral and Joseph Propheta from Tyoga Country Club also carded solid rounds, shooting 97 and 98, respectively.

Six golfers tested their game at the 9 Hole Advanced level, and Ben Sohosky of Tee-To-Green Golf Center came out on top with a 42 for his second win of the season. Max Wirnsberger of the NCPGA Tournament Players Club shared second place with Susquehanna Valley Country Club’s Hannah Rabb, as both golfers brought home impressive rounds of 48. William Gronlund of Bucknell Golf Club was right on their tails, firing a strong 49.

The 9 Hole Intermediate division had four contenders, and a new face took the crown this week. In his first ever NCPGA event, Evan Swinehart carded his best round ever as he posted a 48.  Landon Arriaga of White Deer Golf Complex took the silver with another strong performance after last week’s victory, shooting a 54.

In the 5 Hole Beginner division, Karl Unger of Tee-To-Green Golf Center and Claire Steinninger of Shade Mountain Golf Course shared first place honors. Both golfers shot scores of 30, leading the pack of five golfers.

Today’s event was the second of six on The NCPGA Junior Tournament Series. The tour will make its next stop at Belles Springs Golf Club on Monday, July 10. The NCPGA is thankful for its support from Blaise Alexander Family Dealership and the GouldenTouch Foundation.
