Belles Springs Storeman Fires Even Par 72 to Lead all Golfers at NCPGA Event

Middleburg, PA — Monday’s rainy weather wasn’t enough to halt the first NCPGA Junior Tour event from getting underway at Shade Mountain GC, as 41 golfers were able to get on the course and enjoy the game of golf.

The largest and most competitive division was Division I Advanced, which hosted 12 very skilled junior golfers who all averaged several strokes better than bogey golf. Matthew Storeman of Clinton CC fired up a pro-quality comeback to take first place with an even par 72. Storeman lit up the back nine, shooting -5 on the stretch from hole 10 to hole 17 before finishing with a disappointing double bogey. White Deer GC’s William Knauth and Vincent Bender shared second with rounds of 76, and were closely followed by Clinton CC’s William Adair and Shade Mountain GC’s own Quinn Hackenberg, who shot 77 and 78, respectively. Mill Race GC’s Morgan Sohosky fired an 80 to add to the excellent leaderboard.

Division I Intermediate was the only division to be impacted by the rain, as the 11 golfers were forced to turn in just the front nine after the rain took over during the back nine. Shade Mountain GC’s own Cade Crossgrove and Tyoga CC’s Taynton Repard shared first place honors, both carding 47 on the front nine. TJ Steward took the bronze with a front nine 51, while Andrew Everetts was right on his tail with a 52.

The eight golfers in Advanced 9-hole division brought in plenty of low nines, with Ben Sohosky of Mill Race GC shooting a 43. Sohosky was closely followed by Sean Kelly and Clinton CC’s Griffin Walizer, each of whom shot a 45.

Landon Arriaga of White Deer GC came out on top of Division II Intermediate, shooting a 53 on the front nine. Zach Gose of Susquehanna Valley CC followed closely behind to take second place.

Division III Beginner welcomed six strong youngsters all with very good outings, proving the future of golf is bright. Each player ripped a drive right down the middle under the pressure of the first tee en route to a successful five holes on the front nine at Shade. Chase Wirnsberger of Bucknell GC brought in the low round of 29, and was very closely followed by great rounds of 30 by Bren Crossgrove of Shade Mountain GC and Reese Walizer of Clinton CC, as well as strong rounds of 33 by Jackson Keefer of White Deer GC, 35 by Karl Unger of Tee-To-Green Golf Center, and 36 by Calen Loss.

Today’s event was the first of six on The NCPGA Junior Tournament Series. The tour will make its next stop at Wynding Brook Golf Course on Monday, June 26 for the Lienhard Memorial. The NCPGA is thankful for its support from Blaise Alexander Family Dealership, Jersey Shore State Bank, and Woodlands Bank.
